Customer service response helping a LARPer choose the best amtgard boffer materials for at home foam sword construction.
Hello, Gorg,
I play Amtgard and want to make a good tournament boffer. I make swords all of the time but do have some issues with them, I see a lot of materials on your website for making boffers and was wondering which materials you would recommend from your shop for making this specific boffer?
Thank you in advance,
Anonymous Larper
Yes! Gorg offers great Amtgard Boffer Materials. Here’s a quick guide to help you…
Materials for Amtgard Short Weapons
If you’re aiming to make a single handed omni sword, our standard Blue Tube listing will get you the durable tube, and thrusting tip foam.
(These will also fit .602 if you glue them shut and slide them on, for the construction of a down spear).
Cores
We offer cores as well, currently the lightest kitespar we offer is .524, in a 33.75″ length, which results in a 35.75″ sword once completed, and tournament max is usually 36″, correct?
Tapes
Additionally, we offer basically every tape you could need. Tyvec for the blade, strapping tape to secure tips and pommels, hockey tape for grips, etc.
Parts
Other spare parts include the pommel kits, and stab tips singularly:
DIY Kit
I know most amtgarders use a duct tape or pipe handle, but we do offer tubes and cores in a kit, with other materials for assembling an entire classic bat, with rope handle.
Materials for Amtgard Long Weapons
If you eventually want to build a longer great weapon, don’t forget about our red tubes! These come with stab tips too.
(larger inner diameter for thicker cores, larger outer diameter for safer padding on two handed swings).
Completed Weapons
Here are some of the completed Amtgard products we offer as well:
